U.S. Flag now flying high…

We have been without a US Flag on our grounds for almost 2 years. We wanted to honor our country and those who served. So we repaired our flagpole and installed a light so it can fly at night.

PDFCU Honors Retiring Board Members

We would like to wish our retiring board members the absolute best as they pursue other endeavors.   We will miss their contributions to Pee Dee Federal along with their insight and vision. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you for their unselfish service to the credit union and the community.

Dr. Francis Elmore

Dr. Francis Elmore

Dr. Frances Elmore is a native of Florence SC. She is a graduate of McClenaghan High School, Winthrop College, Furman University, and the University Of South Carolina. She was a teacher in Greenville County before returning to teach in Florence. She taught at McClenaghan High School and was the named Guidance Director for West Florence High School in 1970. In 1976 she became Registrar at Francis Marion University from which she retired in 1994. She is a member of St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church where she serves as Junior Warden. Dr. Elmore has served as a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Treasurer for the State League of Women Voters and is currently the Treasurer of the League of Women Voters Florence Area. She is also a member of the Selective Service Board for this area.    Dr. Elmore has served on our board for over 30 years. She has served through two CEOs and has been a member of the Supervisory Committee and served as Chairperson. During her time of service, she has witnessed many changes in the financial sector and has done her part to keep our credit union safe, secure, and service oriented.


J. E. Cox

J. E. Cox

J E Cox is retired from Florence Darlington Technical College. He served there as the Department Head of Agriculture for 20 years and as the Assistant Dean for Continuing Education for 10 years. Mr. Cox graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1957. He earned his Master of Science Degree from Clemson in 1961. He has volunteered for the Big Brother Organization for 50 years and served on their board of directors for 30 years. Mr. Cox is twice the recipient of the Big Brother of the Year Award, once in 1972 and again in 2012.   Mr. Cox has been a member of Pee Dee Federal Credit Union since 1977. He has served on our board of directors for over 30 years. He has always been an advocate of the credit union and his greatest joy while serving on our board was working with the credit union’s staff.


Dr. Howard Wilkes

Dr. Howard Wilkes

Dr. Howard Wilkes served in two branches of our armed forces. He served in the United States Navy and he retired from the United States Army Reserve with 23 years of service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is a veteran of both the Vietnam and Iraqi Wars. Dr. Wilkes is a retired educator from Florence School District One. He worked in education for 40 years having served as a teacher, counselor, curriculum coordinator and a University of South Carolina Educational Coordinator.    Dr. Wilkes has been a member of our credit union since 1985 and has been active in its leadership since 1983. He has served on our board of directors for over 30 years. Dr. Wilkes has provided Pee Dee Federal with his financial insight and business knowledge and in so doing has contributed to the soundness and growth of our credit union. He remembers when Pee Dee Federal was in a borrowed room, with 3 borrowed chairs, a typewriter and one part-time employee.


With the combined tenure of these three selfless individuals, we are losing close to 100 years of knowledge and experience on our board. We will miss you, thank you, and we wish you nothing but the best.
